my errors, I still highly recommend this item. It works, it's built really solid and it stores just as good if not better than most other jigs. I was honestly surprised at how solid this jig felt.

cally a crosshair, took one of my throwing darts, pushed dart in at each cross hair. Once layout lines on scrap boards were marked, I set the depth of the drill bit , pushed the drill bit through the metal guide and into the cross hair hole then Set the JointCrafter dowel jig onto the board and drilled the first hole. Then onto adjoining board. Without no fuss, none, the holes aligned perfectly. Then I set up layout lines onto actual bookcase, and felt confident about hole placement. I was amazed. I did not have to redrill,adjust or shave down dowels for any of the 16 holes. Not a one. The JointMate Dowel Jig saved me a lot of Reworking had I attempted this with my only other dowel jig. The metal guides is a very nice feature allowing for perpendicular holes to be drilled the FIRST time. Sure , no one can see any mistakes in misdrilling holes because of poor alignment, however this is a bad habit to get into knowing you can Always hide our mistakes. I am thrilled to have purchase this tool, sturdy yet simple construction, light weight, with exception to drill bits and stop collars, this Dowel jig contains all other components required for proper hole alignment and drilling.
