   I’m a hobby woodworker that builds furniture and cabinets. I’ve built many shop made circle cutting guides but all of them ended up like Swiss cheese after only a few uses. I sought to find a trammel router kit that was accurate and repeatable, compatible with all my routers, and is of great value. I was disheartened to find most trammel router kits inaccurate, incompatible with my assortment of routers, and expensive with a lack of options.

   However, the Milescraft #1219 Circle Guide Kit is a diamond in the rough. The kit is compatible with all of my routers (DeWalt, Bosch, and even Festool). It is also extremely accurate. I was able to cut an arc with an exact 19-7/8″ radius. Finally, you get a lot for your money. Not only do you get a circle cutting trammel for large and small circles, but you also get an offset base which is great for doing edge treatments on table tops and panels. The even includes a 1/4″ router bit that’s calibrated to the trammel. This kit is the best bang for the buck. But don’t take my word for it; do your research. You’ll quickly find out that most trammel kits are inferior and overpriced.

   This is complete kit which includes everything you will need to cut circles with a router, up to 52″ in diameter. Router ensures smoother cut than most jig saw blades and with a use of this kit your circle will be perfect even on your first try.
   I really like that Milescraft included in this kit even a drill bit to pre-drill a hole for a pivoting screw and that screw itself. As usually with Milescraft products this kit also contains a decent quality router bit (1/4″ shank), which is very nice bonus, especially considering affordable price of the kit.
   It is very easy to use, however it will take some reading when you are new to this jig. Instruction manual seem to be a bit lengthy but I tried to be patient and read it all so I can summarize it now for you.
   The first thing to do is to mount Centering Pin (part 12) in your router. This is to center properly router on the base plate. Second step is to remove the acrylic plate from your router. Insert TurnLock Bushing (11) into the Base Plate (8) and screw with minimum 2 screws your router base to the Base Plate (8). Now replace Centering Pin in your router colet with a Router Bit (10). Remove the TurnLock Bushing (11) from the Base Plate. Mark the center of your circle on your stock with big X (lines should be about 2″ long). Screw the Center Pivot (6) to the stock with Pivot Screw (7). It has little marks on it which makes it easy to align it with the X mark you made. Put together Circle Guide Head (1), TurnLock Base Plate (8) and Aluminium Beam (3). Connect Large Circle Slide (5) with a Aluminium Beam (3) according to the manual. Place the Large Circle Slide (5) onto Center Pivot (6). Now you can set the desired diameter of your circle using a metric or imperial ruler on the Aluminium Beam (3). This part is tricky though. Large Circle Slide (5) can be mount in two ways onto the Aliminium Beam (3). One position is for diameters of 10 to 42″ and the other for larger circles, up to 52″. Rulers are useful only for the circles up to 42″. If you want to cut bigger circles rulers became irrelevant and you have to use your tape measure to set the distance between inner side of a router bit and Pivot Screw (7). Since plywood sheets are 4 feet wide and many people might want to cut that big circles it would be nice if the Aluminium Beam is a bit longer so there would be no need to change the orientation of the Large Circle Slide and the ruler would remain relevant for circles up to 48″ in diameter. At least you can still cut such big circles.
   All parts are made from good quality plastic or metal and look like will last. It comes well packed in a box covered with photos to give you better idea what is inside. Manual is written in English, Spanish. French and German.
   I had no problem cutting 4 feet diameter circles from 3/4″ thick plywood. To make it easier on my router and router bit I did it in 3 passes though, in each pass cutting just 1/4″ deep groove. I would recommend this product to advanced woodworkers and beginners, as long as you have a bit of experience with a router.

   Besides the perfect circle cuts, the one thing that stood out for me about this product was its ability to work with most all routers. I was able to connect this easily to my cordless trim router to cut a circle easily! Set up was simple, the directions where clear and it is a very repeatable task, which homemade jigs are not always dependable for long term use.

   I got this kit and needed to cut out a circle of 1″ thick solid oak for a stool. It was quick to fit to the head of my large dewalt router, easy to set up, and cut a perfect circle within 2 minutes. It comes with the drill bit, screw, and router bit (which is surprisingly great and good quality)I’ve made a shop jig to do this, but it doesn’t compare to the quality of this jig.    EVERYTHING I HAVE ORDERED HAS BEEN SPOT ON ! GREAT JOB GUYS! I PLAN ON ORDERING SOME WOOD/SHOP EQUIPMENT FROM YOU EARLY THIS SPRING. JUST HAVE TO MAKE THOSE FINAL DECISIONS ON WHAT PIECES I’M GOING TO NEED FIRST. I RETIRED AS AN EXECUTIVE CHEF AND PLAN ON SPENDING MANY HOURS IN MY SHOP CREATING BEAUTIFUL PIECES WITH THIS EQUIPMENT.

   We were blown away with how perfectly this cuts, and how sturdy it is. We looked forever to find a tool that helps you cut perfect circles, but everything is extremely small or VERY expensive. This was affordable and worked very, very well. Couldn’t recommend more!

    I toyed with the idea of making a circle cutting jig. there are you tubes all over the place but i would rather work on my projects than labor over a jig.
    I am very happy w the Milescraft jig. It is easy to use, is well made, and does the job. I have used both the large and small circle cutting configurations and, while the accompanying scales might be a little off, basic shop methods will get accurate work done.
    The customer service has been terrific on what really was a minor issue. real people answer the phone and deal with customer issues effectively and enthusiastically.

    This is a great product. Very easy to set up. First time out of the box, I made a perfect circle. Instructions are very clear with useful tips. Buy with confidence and you will not be disappointed. As an added bonus, their customer service is the best of any company I have ever dealt with. The answer questions very fast and are there if you need them.

    I wasn’t sure that it would fit my plunge base for the Mastercraft Maximum router, it does, using the A, E, and G slots in the base plate. Seems quite high quality. I haven’t used it yet, hence the 4 stars. I won’t comment on the usability, but based on what I’ve seen so far, it should be fine.

    This jig made cutting a circle for a tabletop so quick and easy. And more importantly – accurate! It was easy to set up and use and I will definitely be using this circle cutting jig many times in the future. Highly recommended.
